Remix rebels contest

Remix Rebels contest!

We're holding a remix contest - the best Remix rebel edit will be shown at the NXNE film and music festival in Toronto! They'll also be featured in Basement Tapes - a feature documentary about copyright which will air on The Documentary Channel in 2008!

To sweeten the pot - we'll be awarding the best entry $250 in cold hard cash!. The final deadline is August 15th, 2007.

All you need to do is download the source files. Then remix it - add your own clips, interviews and archival material!

This is the video you'll be remixing!
You can add your original material that you can find on this site - or other material you combine from your own footage or from the net!

We've also included a few sample packs - other interviews we thought you might like.

How It Works

1) Download the Final Cut Pro files. They're big files so be patient!
You can either download by Direct Download, or bitTorrent. Bittorrent spreads the size over other computers, so it will be faster, and you can cue up multiple files and then let them download. You can get bittorrent here.

File 1 - Full edit - Direct Download (301mb) - Torrent File

We've also included some extra material - download if you want, if not, go to the next step

File 2 - Mark Hossler (Negativland) Interviews - Direct Download (398mb) - Torrent File

File 3 - Strictly Kev (DJ Food) Interviews - Direct Download (231mb) - Torrent File

File 4 - Osymyso Interviews - Direct Download (136mb) - Torrent File

The format is Final Cut 5.1. If you have a different version, there is also an XML file that contains the sequence which you can open by choosing FIle>Import XML in Final Cut.

If you don't have Final Cut Pro, you can still import the movie files to edit in whatever editor you choose

2) When you are done, compress the movie as a QuickTime file.

3) Then upload it via the submit form!

Remember to keep the original! If you are chosen for the contest, we'll be contacting you for the high resolution version of your remix.
