OSC showcase/lecture/etc. as a part of a festival in GA?

Posted October 11th, 2007 by willyum

Hola,

My name is Will Donaldson and I have a festival in Athens, Georgia called Next to Last. The event will feature 2 days of music, art, film, speakers, workshops, vendors, and camping. Last year, artists such as Phosphorescent, Summer Hymns, and the Low Lows were featured, as well as several other bands and an animated adaptation of an opera by Dirty Projectors. All of the acts were recorded and collected for a forthcoming compilation called Next to Last Songs and we hope to do so again this year. It's not for profit and proceeds go directly to the artist as well as Common Ground Athens and Common Ground New Orleans. Orange Twin will be helping to ensure that the event functions as green as possible. I've been reading your manifesto and scouring your site and I am completely into what you're doing. I think it's fantastic and I would love to put it out to my community. We have a new independent theatre here that i'll be working with on small events leading up to the fest and we'll also be doing projections at the actual event as well. Would you like to come down and talk a little bit about what you're doing, show whatever footage you'd like, let people down here know what you're doing and whatever else you wanna do? You could use either venue, though I think that the cinema would be better so that you could use all of its resources and we could organize a more specific event around you. If you're into it i'll help you do it in any way that I can. At least one of the artists we're featuring is an active player in your issue (i can't name name's until later this week). Hit me up at nexttolastfest@gmail.com if you're interested!

Thanks for your time!
Will
